Reenactment of The Battle of Monmouth

This reenactment took place on June 26 & 27, 2004. The weather was not quite as warm as it was when the actual battle took place, but was warm enough to make it realistic for those who attended. The order of events were as follows: First, there was a musical demonstration by the Continental Army's drum and pipe corps. The British army then took the field, followed by the Continental army. The British huddled in a long line behind the stand of trees to the East, and the Continental army in the woods to the West. The battle raged on for almost an hour, with one soldier pretending to be mortally wounded. Finally, the British army marched off of the field, followed by the Continental army. Both armies could claim a victory of sorts, depending on how they viewed the outcome, just as had been done after the real battle took place.
