E.I. Dupont Estate

E. I. Dupont arrived in the United States from France in January of 1800. He was not only an accomplished explosives manufacturer, but was also one of the first to advocate a harmonious relationship between labor and management. He purchased this estate on the Brandywine River in Delaware where he broke ground for his explosives factory in 1802.
