Congress Hall is part of the Independence Hall complex in Philadelphia

Built to house the first Continental Congress and first House of Representatives, this building witnessed many turning points of our current form of government. The building has been restored exactly as it appeared in the 1800's, right down to the color and design of the carpeting. George Washington sat in the first seat in the front row of desks along the center isle to the right as you face the speakers stand. The House of Representatives met on the second floor, which is accessed at the front of the building.

John Adams stood between the secretaries tables just below the speakers stand when he was sworn in as the Second President of The United States of America.
