Elfreth's Alley, the oldest continuously populated houses in Philadelphia

This National historic landmark, named for blacksmith Jeremiah Elfreth, has been continuously occupied since 1713. The houses standing date from 1728 to 1836, representing Colonial and Federal architectural styles. There is a museum house located at 126 Elfreth's Alley. As you walk this historic street, pay attention to the passages leading to hidden courtyards. There are some nice spots hidden to the casual observer.
