The Franklin Inn is located in Somerset, New JerseyBuilt in 1734 it now serves as a used book store, and resides on Amwell Road next to the D&R Canal. This former stage coach stop was the headquarters for General Cornwallis during a five day British occupation of the area in June 1777. The restored inn today is run as a used bookstore by volunteers of the Meadows Foundation (see Somerset County Homes for more sites run by this foundation). |
