Mission Inn - Riverside, California

This historic building has graced downtown Riverside, California since the early 1900's. This hotel was built by Frank Miller using design elements he found in the 21 California missions. The first wing, the Mission Revival wing, was opened in 1903. It was later followed by the Cloister wing and the Spanish wing. As time went along he kept adding to the hotel using a variety of architectual designs including dome's and flying arches.

The inn sits on an entire city block, and walking around the outside of the structure will give you a better glimpse into the myriad of small 'additions' he made to the building as he collected antiques, bells, and other artifacts to put on display. If you have time, take a tour of the mission and spend time taking in its grand staircase, ornate decorations, and classic architecture.
